Didn't your gran always remind you to eat your greens?

"I've never understood why more of us who know don't ask why or what the dangers are of all the chemicals sprayed on our food, especially salad greens that we eat raw."
Joel Jelen

My grandma was famous for saying "eat yer greens."

It made me smile then when i went to see Paul Myers at Farm Urban recently.

They're growing salad greens without the use of chemicals in an indoor vertical farm project in the Baltic Triangle.

They're also the host of the next www.thebreadandbutter.co evening event on Monday January 27th from 6pm in Liverpool.

It will be a chance to learn more about food, sustainability and the link with 2019's hottest (sorry) topic, climate change.

I've never understood why more of us (who know) don't ask why or what the dangers are of all the chemicals sprayed on our food, especially salad greens that we eat raw.

Many of us don't question in an expensive restaurant, the quality of our greens do we? Maybe we would if the waiter piped up..."Risotto madame with a side salad infused with petrochemicals?"

Growers use these to manage pests, diseases and weeds but there's a better way that doesn't damage soil fertility or the nutrients in it.

Meet www.greensforgood.co.uk Farm Urban's campaign for 2020.

There's a clear link between healthily grown wholesome food and good human health. Growing food in this way is also less energy-intensive. It's also the future of food.

Would you consider swapping sprayed food for a more sustainable way of eating in 2020?
