Nettl Now pilot launches in Manchester

Nettl, the network of neighbourhood web studios owned by Trafford-based Grafenia plc, today launched a new service, Nettl Now, in Manchester.

Nettl Now pilot launches in Manchester

Nettl Now offers a range of print and display items, delivered free and within 4 hours. Clients place their order online at www.nettlnow.com, upload their print file and then choose a delivery slot, starting within 4 hours. Their order is then printed, packed and delivered that day by dedicated bike or van.

Nettl has chosen Manchester to be the first pilot location with the service launched to the general public today, 6th March. Production is handled by its print factory, based in Manchester’s Trafford Park.

“Manchester was a natural choice for our pilot” said CEO of Grafenia plc, Peter Gunning, “there’s a strong start-up scene and a growing tech hub in Media City, less than a mile from our factory. Plus, we’ve been printing in Manchester for over twenty years so have the experience to do this.”

He continued: “Our studios are constantly asked to help with last minute print jobs. We’ve developed Nettl Now to meet this demand and rescue clients out of their pickle. Perhaps they’ve been let down by another printer, or someone forgot to order marketing for an event, or they’ve spotted an opportunity and need to react quickly. It costs much less than you might think.”

Mikey from brand agency, Schawk Manchester, was one of the first customers to test the service prior to launch. He said “I tried out Nettl Now to see what it was like. Got some cards delivered in less than 4 hours. It was really easy and I love the quirky packaging.”

Once the Manchester pilot is successfully trialled, Nettl Now will enlarge to ten other cities. In other cities, production will be handled locally by selected Nettl and printing.com production partners, who have signed up to be part of the first wave. After that, Nettl plan a national roll-out to cover all major cities. They are asking printers with digital or large format equipment to register their interest in becoming a NowMaker. Marian Stefani, Chief Executive of the IPIA said “This is really interesting. As consumers, we’re encouraged to source food locally, to cut down on food miles. The same should apply to print. Nettl now could be a way for national brands to cut their ‘print miles’ by having print manufactured locally to where they’re going to use it, and delivered just in time. Instead of ordering in bulk, they could order only what they need, just a few hours before they need it. This could be game changing.”

Although Nettl expects many clients will want delivery as quickly as possible, within 4 hours, some will want to specify a one-hour delivery window at another time to suit their schedule. Gunning said “When you downright must have it and can’t risk an overnight courier losing it in their system, you might want to opt for the certainty that a dedicated Nettl Now driver brings – after all, we’re making it round the corner.”

The range covers the most popular print items most businesses use, from posters to postcards, flyers to banners and business cards to brochures. You can order as little as one poster, up to a few hundred flyers.

Free delivery with Nettl Now is available in the following Manchester postcodes now: M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M7, M13, M14, M15, M16, M17, M21, M27, M30, M32, M33, M41 and M50. The service covers the city centre, Ardwick, Ancoats, Blackfriars, Brooklands, Castlefield, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Chorlton-on-Medlock, Clifton, Davyhulme, Deansgate, Flixton, Greengate, Hulme, Fallowfield, Ladybarn, Longsight, Manchester Science Park, Media City, Moss Side, Northern Quarter, Old Trafford, Piccadilly, Pendlebury, Rusholme, Trafford Park, Sale, Salford Quays, Stetford, Swinton, University, Urmston, Wardley and Whalley Range.
