Scotlands Rural College chooses Collabco to support student engagement vision

Digital campus connects students with each other and the college

Scotlands Rural College chooses Collabco to support student engagement vision

"Weve chosen to work with Collabco because we want to bring our students together in a more cohesive way delivering a digital campus means we can better connect them to the college and their peers."
Jarlath Flynn, IS academic business at SRUC

Collabco’s myday digital campus has been chosen by Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) – a specialist institution offering consultancy as well as education courses at all levels from college to university level study, through to postgraduate and research opportunities.

“We’ve chosen to work with Collabco because we want to bring our students together in a more cohesive way – delivering a digital campus means we can better connect them to the college and their peers, deliver the resources and support their needs around the clock and ultimately help them to feel much more engaged in their learning,” explains Jarlath Flynn, IS & academic business partner at SRUC.

“myday will immediately reduce the number of different log-ins to the college systems students require – ultimately they will access everything via the new digital campus which in turn means student frustrations are eliminated – a very positive quick win.”

The education delivery is based on six campuses within three faculties in the north, central, and south and west regions of Scotland supporting over 2,500 on-campus FE and HE students, including those undertaking PhDs, carrying out qualifications in the workplace and distance learners.

myday will deliver a uniform look and feel to SRUC, connecting up students and delivering a mechanism to communicate with them. However, it is very much looking forward to thinking of other ways that the digital campus may help deliver services or information to students in the future.

“There are so many says that we hope to put myday to the test – it would be great if students can book resources – such as a seat in the library without having a 20-minute walk to the campus to find there are no seats left,” explains Jarlath Flynn.

“We are also very keen to deliver a hub for student welfare, so that if students do feel isolated or are experiencing problems, they can get a uniformly reliable service on whichever campus they are based at the time. Speed and quality of response would be much improved.”

Andy Taylor, CEO, Collabco said: “SRUC is the perfect institution to put myday through its paces because the system will instantly connect its rural campuses and the students together. Student engagement is never more acute than when there are a number of campus environments spread out over a large geographic area – it instantly binds them together as one and ultimately makes them feel like they belong. I’m really looking forward to working with SRUC.”

Implementation will begin imminently.
