AlphaBiolabs, the Warrington-based DNA, drug and alcohol testing company, has expanded its marketing team with three appointments to support its growth.

Sam Burgon has joined as digital marketing manager. He has more than 10 years’ experience in graphic design, website development and digital marketing and has moved from Eversmart Energy in Manchester.

Elizabeth Sherratt has been appointed pay-per-click manager after joining AlphaBiolabs from I-COM in Manchester.

Her role at AlphaBiolabs sees her manage Google Adwords campaigns for the company’s UK and US websites.

Anna Leaver has joined as bid writer, focusing on legal DNA and drug and alcohol testing services.

She has joined AlphaBiolabs from Indepth Managed Services, based in Warrington, where she worked on high-value public and private sector bids across the UK.

Anna also has extensive marketing, communications and public relations experience with a range of businesses from start-ups to large corporates.

The trio’s arrival takes the number of people in AlphaBiolabs’ marketing team to nine.

Commercial director Rachel Davenport said: “As the business continues to expand, these new roles will support our growth.

“Sam, Elizabeth and Anna each bring a great deal of technical expertise and experience in specialised areas of marketing, which is a key part of the business.

“The team is focused on helping with the customer journey and experience, and increasing leads into the business to help drive sales.

“We are thrilled to welcome the trio as we expand our marketing activities in line with our growth strategy and we will be looking to recruit further across other areas of the business in the coming months.”

AlphaBiolabs has expanded on a number of fronts over the past 12 months, including the introduction of non-invasive prenatal paternity testing at its Warrington HQ and a technique which can resolve paternity disputes using DNA samples from a toothbrush, the first time these services have become available at a UK lab.

The company has also expanded operations in Ireland after obtaining sole distribution rights for a device which detects alcohol through a person’s sweat.

The SCRAM Continuous Alcohol Monitoring ankle bracelet is designed to tackle excessive drinking and is used by local authorities, courts and child protection agencies to support treatment and enhance supervision for their clients. AlphaBiolabs introduced the device in the UK in 2017.

In addition, the company has rolled out medical assessments alongside its workplace drug and alcohol testing services.
