Manchester-based James Briggs launches first household cleaning range

Manchester-based James Briggs launches first household cleaning range

"Nilco is a long-established brand for us and has become known for its high performance and reliability."
Paul Blackaby, CEO at James Briggs Ltd

Chemicals manufacturer James Briggs Ltd (JBL) has launched its first consumer-facing cleaning products range, as it looks to expand its offering to retailers.

Nilco Home has been created specifically for domestic use, capitalising on the popularity of cleaning influencers, such as Instagram sensation Mrs Hinch.

The collection, which includes an anti-bacterial cleaner, a glass cleaner, a kitchen grease-buster and a bathroom spray, will be available to consumers from August and priced from around £3.00 per unit.

Originally designed for professional use only, Nilco is JBL’s in-house cleaning solution brand, encompassing products for those in the catering, washroom and housekeeping trades.

Now, JBL has modified the product so that they are suitable for home use, kicking off with a capsule collection of four items.

Paul Blackaby, CEO at James Briggs Ltd, said: “Nilco is a long-established brand for us and has become known for its high performance and reliability. There has been an undoubtable surge in popularity for home cleaning products over the last 12 to 18 months, especially with the rise of cleaning fanatics like Mrs Hinch.

“But we spotted a real gap in the market for high-quality, premium products that could give industry-standard ranges a run for their money.

“We believe the Nilco Home range fills that gap perfectly, by keeping the active ingredients of its trade counterpart and having the versatility to use domestically.”

Founded in Manchester in 1830 at the height of the industrial revolution, JBL has built a reputation as a service-led, industrial aerosol manufacturer, specialising in the supply of paints and lubricants for retail, consumer and trade markets.

Based across two sites – Royton and Chadderton – the company distributes 150 million aerosols and 30 million litres of high performance product every year.

If successful, there are plans to expand the Nilco Home range over the next 12 months, including a concentrated floor cleaner.

Paul added: “We’ve already had strong interest from retailers that are looking to add something different to their cleaning product aisles and we’re confident that consumers will notice the difference in quality.

“We’re currently looking at what the next phase of the Nilco Home range might look like and where the strongest demand lies, so we’re excited to develop the collection further.”
