Lookers continues electric taxi retail partnership with second site in Greater Manchester

"We are very excited to be welcoming LEVC here at Lookers Volvo Stockport"
Boyd Dennell, Lookers Volvo Head of Business

Lookers is continuing its partnership with electric taxi retailer LEVC after opening a new site at its Volvo dealership in Stockport.

The site will act as the main retailer in Greater Manchester for the LEVC TX, the world’s most advanced electric taxi, and will also provide Sales and Aftersales support.

Operated by Head of Business Boyd Dennell and located at St Mary’s Way, LEVC Greater Manchester is the second LEVC retailer to open at a Lookers dealership, with a site opening at Taggarts Volvo Glasgow in April.

With the TX, LEVC has completely redesigned the taxi, helping taxi drivers to lower their running costs, while offering passengers a more premium experience.

For passengers, there are a whole host of new features, including WIFI, USB and laptop charging, a large panoramic roof, six seats and of course, the class leading accessibility features synonymous with the black cab.

TX also provides a much smoother and more comfortable ride for the driver too and has a whole host of features such as lane assist, autonomous braking, parking sensors and a rear camera.

The appointment of LEVC Greater Manchester comes at a crucial time as the GMCA consider plans to introduce a clean air zone across all 10 local authorities by 2021.

Under current plans, vans and taxis are set to be charged £7.50 per day when operating within the clean air zone.

In addition to this, the LEVC Greater Manchester dealership has potential to make a huge impact on air quality as more TX taxis are sold.

With 32 million trips made using taxis and private hire vehicles in Greater Manchester each year, the electrification of this fleet could drastically help to cut emissions.

LEVC also estimate that drivers should save up to £110 per week in fuel savings alone.

Lookers Volvo Head of Business Boyd Dennell said: “We are very excited to be welcoming LEVC here at Lookers Volvo Stockport. It follows the introduction of a retail site at our dealership in Glasgow and comes at a time when local authorities across the UK are planning to introduce clean air zones. Taxi drivers will of course be one of the most affected by the changes, making the TX an amazing solution.”
