"We work hard to encourage, reward and motivate our team and to see this reflected in such a high-profile and well respected list is incredibly gratifying."

The prestigious accreditation recognises organisations that have created engaging and uplifting workplace environments, with happy and progressive staff. Owner Leanne Silverwood comments: “We are immensely proud to be listed as one of the Sunday Times Best Small Companies to work for in the UK. We work hard to encourage, reward and motivate our team and to see this reflected in such a high-profile and well respected list is incredibly gratifying."

Local Care Force is based on Dale Street, with other offices in Leeds and Sheffield. It was set up in 2004 by Leanne and fellow healthcare professional Samuel Rutsito, to supply workers into the nursing, health and social care sectors. The agency has 50 staff, comprised of recruiters, medical professionals and medical trainers. Most of the team has worked in nursing or social healthcare and the company provides a rigorous ongoing training programme for its employees, to ensure they all meet the needs of their clients.

The company was praised by Best Companies for its employee engagement through staff incentives, a non-target based bonus scheme, mentorship programmes, a positive culture and strong management; hands-on owner Leanne is described as an ‘inspiration to the workforce’ by her own team.

Jonathan Austin, CEO and founder of Best Companies, comments: “I would like to congratulate Local Care Force on their outstanding achievement. This year it is encouraging to see that more and more organisations are recognising the value of employee engagement and are willing to benchmark themselves against the best, to ensure they are offering their employees the best possible experience. Organisations like Local Care Force have continued to focus on their employees and have been rewarded with an engaged workforce who tell us that this is a great place to work.”

To celebrate its accolade, the agency has set up the #BestCompaniesPledge - all 50 employees have made a pledge on something they will do in the 12 months to enrich the company or their local community. A video has been created of all the pledges, which range from charity skydives to blood donations, to taking on more young apprentices.

Concludes Leanne: “We want to recognise this honour in a way that will benefit others. After all that is the ethos of our company; to support our team as it helps other people. This seemed the perfect way to celebrate - and keep celebrating.”
