National Apprenticeship Week 2019 Bruntwood hosts apprenticeship open day

National Apprenticeship Week 2019 Bruntwood hosts apprenticeship open day

"To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2019 we want to share our insights, experience and advice with companies across the region."
Adele Weaver

Bruntwood know first-hand the benefits of employing apprentices, so to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2019 the property company is hosting a free open day to help Leeds businesses overcome the barriers and reap the rewards.

The event will take place in the lounge at Platform, on Wednesday 6th March (between 10am – 3pm). It will provide free advice and support on how to access funding, how to recruit the correct applicants and how to find the right providers and programmes for your business.

The session will be hosted by Adele Weaver, Head of Learning and Development at Bruntwood. Adele said: “Recruiting and retaining skilled and experienced workers is an issue for many small businesses. And while apprenticeships are a fantastic way to address this, 80% of levy-paying employers still do not hire an apprentice.

“This is partly due to the reforms and complex funding changes over the past few years which have caused some confusion, meaning many employers are not aware of how their business could benefit from an apprenticeship programme. This is something we are keen to help address.

“People are the heart of everything we do at Bruntwood, and providing access to the best possible training and development opportunities is key to ensuring that we have the right team in place and are nurturing and developing the next generation of professionals in the property industry. We have taken advantage of the levy and further developed our apprenticeship and early talent programmes which have resulted in a number of key benefits to our business. Apprentices are on every city agenda and play a vital role in creating thriving cities. We are proud to be playing our part in helping provide different opportunities and supporting not only new employees to join the team, but also offering the opportunity to upskill existing staff within the business.

“To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2019 we want to share our insights, experience and advice with companies across the region, so they too can benefit from the array of advantages apprenticeships can bring to the business.”

Bruntwood’s apprenticeship programme, which operates across its regional offices in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham and Cheshire, provides training and development opportunities for the next generation of professionals in the property industry. Its courses extend a range of sectors, from networking engineering to digital marketing to finance.

Bruntwood has a total of 19 apprentices in the business, which make up 2.4% of its overall workforce. It is currently building on its existing programme, which will see further growth as part of its September 2019 intake.
