First time buyers Michaela and Daniel have had a year of celebration following the purchase of their first home with Countryside in St Helens and welcoming their first child.

After previously renting, Michaela (27) and Daniel (34) began to save for their new home and with help from the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme and Help to Buy: ISAs, they found the perfect place for their family.

Michaela commented: “We had been researching homes in Manchester and Liverpool for a year before we officially started to look. During this time, we both set up a Help to Buy: ISA to start saving towards a deposit. As both Daniel and I had an ISA each, it meant that a year later we had saved enough and were ready to buy.

“As first-time buyers, we did our research into the type of homes we could afford and read up on how the Help to Buy process worked. Together with our ISAs, we also used the Help to Buy scheme and everything just happened so quickly from then onwards. We had first thought the process would take a lot longer than it did but everything was really easy and straightforward.”

The Help to Buy: ISA allows an individual to save up to £200 each month and the government will boost those savings by 25% when they come to buy their first home. With the maximum government bonus that can be received totalling £3,000.

Having settled on a Countryside home, Michaela and Daniel welcomed their baby daughter, Eliska, in May 2019, just three months after moving in.

Michaela continued: “We wanted to find a home for our family that was in a nice area, with good schools. As I was expecting Eliska, we needed somewhere that was ready to move into straight away and didn’t need any extra money being spent on it. No hassle was what we wanted, so a new build home was the perfect choice. When we saw the New Stamford home, it had everything we wanted. It is really bright and spacious, easy to move around and is just what we need.”

Mark Hadfield, Managing Director, Partnerships North (Merseyside & Cheshire West), Countryside, said: “The government-backed Help to Buy scheme and the Help to Buy: ISA have helped many first-time buyers get onto the property ladder and buy their first homes. To hear Michaela and Daniel’s story and how Help to Buy has benefitted them is exactly why we offer the initiative at all our developments.

“Michaela and Daniel bought at our Juniper Grove development, which is now fully sold owing to its huge popularity with buyers in St Helens. Following its success, we launched our second St Helens development, Abbotsfield, in February this year and it’s fantastic to see the new communities growing at both developments.”
