One Vision Housing (OVH) residents came together to enjoy a day of champagne, fashion and music in celebration of Older Persons Day.
‘Tea at the Ritzwood’ took place at Firwood Cricket Club in Bootle and was organised by OVH’s Customer Empowerment team to celebrate both Older Persons Day and the housing association’s 10th anniversary.
Over 250 guests – including a number of our Independent Living customers - were greeted by spoof paparazzi before being escorted along the red carpet by staff from Sovini Property Services, who were suited and booted by Slaters Menswear.
OVH’s Independent Living Service ensures that they can provide housing for individuals or families who require assistance to live independently in their homes.
The guests were also treated to a performance by Bootle singer George Gallagher, who won the BBC singing contest Frank Sinatra: Our Way in 2015.
They also enjoyed champagne afternoon tea, a catwalk show of clothes from Bootle boutique Crème de la Creme and Slaters Menswear, and performances from Sefton OPERA groups including the Bootle Belles.
Councillors from across Merseyside, including Cllr Paul Cummins and Cllr Peter Mitchell, also attended the event which was broadcast live on Southport’s Sandgrounder Radio.
The World Health Organisation Day of Older Persons initiative started in 1991 to raise awareness of health and social issues important to the elderly and to celebrate their continued contribution to society.
