Exchange Station to host CBRE’s environmental awareness day

Exchange Station to host CBRE’s environmental awareness day

""

Exchange Station will be the venue for CBRE’s annual Environmental Awareness Day this year, which will take place in the building’s concourse on Friday 4th July.

The event was launched with a cycle/run/walk challenge to promote green travel. CBRE challenged teams and individuals to sign up and cycle, run or walk when they would normally drive. The challenge has attracted 30 teams so far who will all be attending on the day to share their stories.

Many organisations will be promoting their latest green products and services at the event, including City Bikes, Merseytravel, Watt Bikes, Smoothie Bikes, Signs Express, Integral, Clearground, B&M Waste, Giant Bikes, Urban Planters, Floorbrite, Merseyside Police, Liverpool City Council, Bike Right, the Liverpool BID team, Medicash, Lee Floor Stok, DBDS (NW) and Box Clever.

Watt Bikes will be challenging visitors to take part in a gruelling static cycle ride, which will pit delegates against each other to complete the challenge in the quickest time. The winner of the competition will receive a £50 voucher which will be presented by actor, TV presenter, cyclist and environmental champion, Simon O’Brien, who will be attending the event and showing his support.

A charity raffle will also take place in aid of Claire House, CBRE’s official charity for the environmental awareness day.

Andrew Willoughby, associate director at CBRE, said: “We are very pleased to be hosting the event at Exchange Station. The concourse is a fantastic space for the event, which we hold each year to assist promoting good environmental practice in the buildings we manage in the city. 300 visitors attended the event last year. The recently refurbished building has its own impressive checklist of green credentials and CBRE has recently been appointed as property managers so it was the perfect venue for this year’s event. The development also features a landscaped area to the rear, where we will be holding a barbecue for event delegates and occupiers of the building.”

Simon O’Brien said of the event: “I am really pleased to be taking part in CBRE’s environmental awareness day. As a property developer and with a strong focus on environmental issues and ecology, and with the focus on the latest cycling technology, it seems this event was made for me. I am really looking forward to seeing what the exhibitors have to offer on the day and I may even take on the Watt Bikes challenge!”
