The Northern Blog Awards celebrates blogging talent

"There is so much blogging talent in the north and I wanted a way to recognise and celebrate the achievements of content creators in Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle and everywhere in between."
Holly Wood

On Saturday 16th September, some of the UK’s most popular bloggers, content creators and online influencers came together to celebrate the first Northern Blog Awards. Over 200 guests attended the glamorous event, hosted by blogger collective WeBlogMCR, at The Principal in Manchester.

Over 70,000 nominations and votes were made for the awards, which saw 29 bloggers win awards across 25 categories, covering topics such as food, family, beauty, fashion, health and interiors.

As the excitement of the evening’s award ceremony unfolded, the shortlisted candidates – who have a collective online audience of over 3.5 million people – along with fellow guests and sponsors shared 710 social media posts, reaching 1,017,824 people, 2.1 million impressions and resulting in the hashtag #NBAs17 trending in Manchester.

Hosted by Key 103’s Darryl Morris, the Northern Blog Awards was supported by headline sponsors luxury interiors brand Christy and affiliate management firm Thoughtmix, with further support from digital marketing agency Six & Flow, Booths Supermarkets and Bathroom Takeaway. Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice was the charity partner.

Holly Wood, blogger at www.hollygoeslightly.co.uk and founder of WeBlogMCR, said: “There’s so much blogging talent in the north and I wanted a way to recognise and celebrate the achievements of content creators in Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle and everywhere in between. The first ever Northern Blog Awards was a huge success and I’m delighted to see that the buzz and excitement of the event reached so many people.

“Over the last few years WeBlogMCR has grown, creating a great blogging scene not only in Manchester but further afield too. Because of this, it was time to rebrand. At the Northern Blog Awards we announced our new name – WeBlogNorth – which will be an inclusive network for content creators of all niches across the north of England, with the aim ‘to learn, inspire and collaborate’.”
