Blackpool Enterprise Week Returns to Support A New Generation of Start-ups

"We are delighted with the packed programme of events put together for this years Blackpool Enterprise Week. With 11 sessions to choose from, there really is something for everyone at every stage."
David Slater, Business Growth Manager

Blackpool Enterprise Week returns between 18-22 November, with a week of free events and workshops for business start-ups in Blackpool. And interest is high with bookings already up on last year.

The level of interest reflects a growing appetite to launch new businesses in the resort. Latest figures show 17% more start-ups launched in Blackpool compared with the same period last year, whilst start-ups based around the town’s visitor economy are up by more than 40% on 2018.

The event offers free business advice and practical support to help people take the next steps in setting up their own business. The programme includes the ‘Why Would Anybody Buy Something From You?’ session, which aims to help local businesses identify their target customers and beat the competition. A financial planning workshop will help start-ups explore the practicalities of invoicing, cashflow and budgeting. Whilst the ‘Finance for Business Start-ups’ workshop will help local entrepreneurs access funding opportunities.

On Friday 22 November, the day’s showpiece event is a Digital Know How Session with Lloyds Bank and Google, where attendees will discover how to build their presence online.

Speaking about the week of events, David Slater, Business Growth Manager with Blackpool Unlimited said: “We are delighted with the packed programme of events put together for this year’s Blackpool Enterprise Week. With 11 sessions to choose from, there really is something for everyone at every stage of start-up.

“Every session is free, so we would encourage anyone thinking of launching a business to book a session, or two – or all of them. Our expert advisers will be on hand to provide practical help and tailored support. And, because we know business start-ups benefit from being able to share experiences with people who were in the same boat as them not so long ago, we’ll be holding an informal networking session at the Slug & Lettuce in the town centre on Wednesday 20th.”

Blackpool Enterprise Week is organised by Blackpool Unlimited and details of all the free to attend events can be found here https://www.blackpoolunlimited.com/BEW2019/
