Soul Central in Manchester gains further recognition

A posse of Manchester soul lovers revealed this week how their passion for contemporary soul music has become a hit.

Soul sister Angela Mac, a familiar face on Manchester’s soul scene has travelled all over the UK and Europe to enjoy her favourite pastime but got talking over a glass of wine one evening.

“We wanted our own night and party vibe where our favourite tunes could be played to like-minded people…just as it was for us going out back in the 90’s.”

Angela along with hubby and DJ Paul Mac plus fellow DJs Brian ‘Bizzy B’ Pemberton and Mike Stephens – well known figures on the UK soul scene – coined the brand Soul Central.

They “started off small” at Texture in the Northern Quarter and built up a core following that organically grew to the point where they needed to move to a bigger venue.

“The iconic Band on The Wall in Swan Street Manchester fitted the bill perfectly,” said Angela.

“We continued to build on our original vision to deliver a quality soul night with the DJs playing a mix of new & old soul and RnB.

“As we developed Soul Central, we also invited highly respected DJs including Jigs, Roger Williams, Paul Goldsmith and Marcus Bee…all of who have brought their own unique vibe to the night to accompany our resident DJs Mike, Paul and Bizzy.

“We’re all feeling pretty humbled by the last three years. All we wanted to do was play music that brought people together, spinning a mix of current and fresh alongside the classics bringing back memories of the good times partying with friends in the 90’s.

“As a result, we’ve been inundated with such kind feedback telling us how much Soul Central guests enjoy the night.

“We’ve loved being able to provide promotional and DJ support too for an incredible array of artists coming to Manchester from all over the UK, the U.S. and Europe including Avery Sunshine, Kindred the Family Soul, Leela James, Conya Doss, Eric Benet, Joyce Simms, Teedra Moses and Diane Shaw.”

The next instalment of Soul Central which will no doubt be another sell out on Sunday December 30th 2018 from 11pm has strictly limited tickets available via Band on the Wall.
