Fireman Sam and The Fat Controller set for Library half-term takeover

Fireman Sam will be performing throughout the week alongside story time sessions with the Fat Controller, before young visitors have the opportunity to meet and take photos with the characters themselves.

This special half-term event will give local children the opportunity to experience live entertainment from Mattel Play! Liverpool right at the Central Library.

The Fat Controller will entertain little ones with Thomas and Friends stories, while Fireman Sam will wow audiences with his dance moves during an exclusive show.

Children will also be able to bring one of their books from home and exchange it for a brand-new book from the Thomas and Friends collection, free of charge, with their old books donated to charity.

Zachary Roberts-Kendall, commercial manager at Mattel Play! Liverpool, said:

“We’re really looking forward to teaming up with Liverpool Central Library for this special half-term event.

“The Fat Controller story times that we regularly hold at Mattel Play! Liverpool are hugely popular, so it’ll be great to showcase them to people who haven’t seen them before, while Fireman Sam’s show is always a crowd pleaser.

“The children’s library, Discover, is a wonderful place for the under 5s to enjoy books and reading, and we hope by encouraging our young guests to bring one of their old books to swap it will help ignite a love of stories and reading in a new generation.”

Simon Savidge, Commercial Manager from Liverpool Libraries, said:

“We are really excited about the visit of Mattel Play! Liverpool this October half-term.

“It’s so important to ensure that children enjoy books and reading, and I’m sure that having the Fat Controller and Fireman Sam on hand to encourage them all the more will be brilliant.”

This free half-term showtime event will run during half-term on Monday 22nd, Wednesday 24th and Friday 26th October within Liverpool Central Library, with sessions held at 1pm and 3pm, open to all on a first-come-first-served basis.

Mattel Play! Liverpool is also hosting the premiere of Fireman Sam’s new movie ‘Set For Action’ during half-term.

The special ticketed event, on Saturday October 20, includes one hour’s play at the attraction followed by access to a red carpet area, ready for Fireman Sam’s official arrival.

Children will be able to meet Fireman Sam on the red carpet while staff take ‘Paparazzi style’ photos, recreating the excitement of a Hollywood premiere, before going through to watch the new film.

Tickets for the movie premiere event are available from the Mattel Play! Liverpool website: www.mattelplayliverpool.com.
