West Derby Village has welcomed a new cocktail bar and lounge courtesy of an expansion by independently owned Almond Bar & Eatery

Almond Bar & Eatery unveils its new look in West Derby

"With cosy seating and an extensive menu of cocktails, wines, gin and beers, it is the perfect spot for couples, friends and families to stop by for a drink or two."
Owner Kate Dunn

Located in the heart of the suburb, the neighbourhood favourite has remained a firm fixture in the village’s food and drink scene for over a decade and is set to bring something new to the area whilst retaining its long-standing values.

As part of the restaurant’s makeover, it has acquired an additional 60 sq. ft of its premises to expand its offering, with the new added space ideal for post dinner tipples or an evening of cocktails & gin serves.

Owner of Almond Bar & Eatery Kate Dunn said: “After months of planning and preparation we are thrilled to finally unveil our new look, complete with the addition of an exciting new lounge space which perfectly accompanies our dining provision. With cosy seating and an extensive menu of cocktails, wines, gin and beers, it is the perfect spot for couples, friends and families to stop by for a drink or two or relax with a tipple before enjoying dinner with us.

“Rather than taking away from what we know and love, we’ve simply added extras in the form of a bar menu featuring sharing boards and delicious nibbles alongside the addition of a totally new cocktail menu. Our most loved menu staples are here to stay, with classics like Slow Roast Belly Pork and Beer Battered Fish & Chips remaining, and our dining area will continue to offer the same concept – just with a lick of paint and a few added décor details.”

No stranger to West Derby Village, Kate also owns the popular dining spot 51 Mill Lane, a small plates venue which opened in 2017 in line with the area’s growing popularity amongst residents and visitors.

Kate added: “To represent this new chapter for Almond we’ve taken on a new mascot in the form of the dragonfly, which symbolises change, transformation and adaptability – something that I feel embodies our ethos perfectly as we continue to pave the way in West Derby Village, which is quickly gaining a reputation as a foodie hotspot within Liverpool. Over the years we’ve continued to grow as a business in line with increased demand, and as a result this is our second expansion since opening our upstairs dining space in 2015.

“What’s more, Almond Bar & Eatery will also be opening from 12pm all day, every day to accommodate growing demand amongst residents and visitors. We can’t wait to share our new space with the public and we are sure that customers old and new will love the new layout and look just as much as we do.”
