Manchester lawyers launch UK's first ever e-bike ride for WeLoveMCR charity

FLETCHER DAY, the fast-growing commercial law firm launched the UK's first ever ‘electric bike ride’ in aid of the Manchester-based WeLoveMCR Emergency Fund.

Lawyers, accountants, bankers and corporate finance professionals teamed up to ride the twenty-kilometre route from the firm's Manchester office along the Manchester Ship Canal to Altrincham Market House for real ale and wood-fired pizza.

The bikes were supplied by 50cycles.com, the UK’s largest electric bike retailer.

Firms taking part included Manchester accountants Alexander Knight & Co, NatWest bank, Sugar PR, law firm Potter Rees Dolan and business sales specialists Aspire.

Andy Herricks, corporate partner at leading commercial law firm Fletcher Day, said:

“We’ve pulled together a range of professional services advisers in Manchester to do something truly unique. We hope that it will be the first in a series of e-bike rides across the city we’re organising to raise awareness and funds for this important charity in Manchester.”

"We're proud to do something that's so unique to support our local community. It's an amazing feeling to bring together clients, business associates and contacts of Fletcher Day together in"
Andy Herricks of Fletcher Day

Scott Snaith, managing director of 50cycles.com, said:

“We’re happy to see lawyers coming together in aid of this amazing charity. We're delighted to support this initiative."

The WeLoveManchester Emergency Fund is the Lord Mayor’s charity which supports Mancunians who are in the greatest need to reach their full potential.

Since 2011 the charity has supported over 140 community groups and projects in Manchester. As well as enabling 325 adults and 595 children to experience a short break as a family.

Electric bikes are revolutionising the cycling industry. 78 per cent of all bikes sold in the Netherlands, a country famous for its cycling culture, were electric.

The electric bike market is expected to grow at least 20 per cent during 2017. The bikes are popular with commuters and couriers.
