Law Society Highly Commends LawBid Legal Matchmaking Service

"We are delighted to be commended for our work and to have the chance to meet some of the best and brightest from the legal sector."
Kid Harwood

LawBid.co.uk, the online service that seamlessly matches clients with a panel of solicitors, has been Highly Commended by the Law Society at their Excellence Awards in London for ‘challenging convention and creating greater added value’. The award, in the Business Development category, comes after reports from both the Law Society and the Competition & Markets Authority identified a need for a better way for solicitors to make first contact with clients and for better price transparency to stimulate growth in the legal sector.

LawBid.co.uk, developed by Kid Harwood, a practicing solicitor and director at Wildings in Birmingham and Manchester, provides a legal matchmaking service, allowing clients and law firms to connect securely and transparently online. Firms all over the UK are already using LawBid.co.uk to better serve existing and new clients in all areas of legal expertise.

Kid Harwood said the commendation recognised the contribution LawBid is making to bringing digital presence into the legal profession, and making it easier for more potential clients to engage with the legal advice they need. “Over the past few years, price transparency has been an issue repeatedly identified by the Law Society, the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Competition & Markets Authority. However, as a solicitor, I know the difficulty that firms have publishing prices upfront. With LawBid, instead of giving one-size-fits-all prices, firms are able to review a potential client’s requirements and provide a quote on a case by case basis. This gives the consumer the choice and transparency they need without making life difficult for solicitors.”

Allowing solicitors to agree on fees with potential clients on a case by case basis, LawBid was created to address the price transparency issues that the legal sector faces whilst avoiding the pitfalls of price comparison websites.  At the Law Society Excellence Awards LawBid was recognised by the judges as an example of a forward-thinking initiative that benefits the everyday consumer while also growing business for solicitors in all specialisms of practice.

Concluding, Kid Harwood said: “We are delighted to be commended for our work and to have the chance to meet some of the best and brightest from the legal sector.”
