Glaisyers Solicitors has been named “Best Law Firm” at the 2019 Talk of Manchester Awards. The announcement was made at a ceremony attended by around 500 guests at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester on 5 December 2019.
The winner of this award was chosen from 17 nominees by an online public vote that attracted more than 146,000 submissions across all categories. Other nominated firms, against whom Glaisyers won out, included Irwin Mitchell, JMW, Kuits Solicitors and Shoosmiths.
Glaisyers Solicitors is a full-service law firm that specialises in the needs of privately owned businesses and their shareholders. It was acquired in December 2018 in a management buy-in led by former Kuits partners David Jones and Dave Marlor, backed by the international professional services giant ETL Global UK.
The firm, which has been operating in Manchester for more than 40 years, has this year opened a London office and is on course to increase headcount by more than 25 per cent during the course of 2019. It is on track to increase revenues, year-on-year, by approximately 40 per cent.

It was a night of double celebration for Glaisyers’ parent ETL Global UK. Another of its network firms, the Bolton-headquartered accountancy firm EKWilliams, gained a special commendation in the Talk of Manchester Awards’ “Best Accountancy Practice” category.
The Talk of Manchester was established by entrepreneur Paul Kilroe to provide networking opportunities for businesses across Manchester. It hosts a range of regular events including business clubs, director-level networking and masterclasses.
The Talk of Manchester Awards have been held annually since 2014. They are, in the organisation’s words, designed to celebrate and reward the exceptional businesses based in Manchester and the surrounding areas.
In addition to recognising the city’s top businesses the 2019 Talk of Manchester Awards ceremony raised money for Kidscan Children’s Cancer Research. This Salford-based charity funds and manages research into new and improved treatments for children with cancer, with the aim of reducing reliance on adult drugs that can have serious long-term health implications for the children they are currently used to treat.
