Brown Turner Ross solicitors spread the festive spirit with a Christmas drinks reception in aid of Mencap Liverpool at the Museum of Liverpool last night.

Over 120 people attended the evening to be greeted with all of the classic Christmas essentials including mulled wine, mince pies and Christmas carols sung by local choir, Mersey Harmony, in front of the famous Blackler’s Santa which is on display in the foyer of the museum.

The festivities lead up to a luxury auction & raffle with prizes kindly donated from local businesses including The Beatles Story, Viva Brazil, Auberge Restaurant & Liverpool Football Club, the proceeds of which were donated to Brown Turner Ross’s charity partner, Mencap Liverpool.

Frank Rogers, Director of Brown Turner Ross solicitors, said:

“The festive season is a time to give back, to our clients, partners and staff, but we also wanted to bring people together for a great cause at this special time of year. Mencap Liverpool is doing some incredible work for people with learning disabilities. As a firm we are passionate about supporting Mencap Liverpool for the long term, and we have agreed to partner with them for 2017.”

Last month, the leading local law firm announced that they will be supporting the local independent charity as a corporate partner for the next 12 months with a programme of fundraising on a variety of events and will be assisting with travel costs of one of their volunteers.

David Bushell, Managing Director of Brown Turner Ross, said:

“We decided to support Mencap Liverpool as my family has been supported by the charity for the last fifty years for my own sister who has learning disabilities, without an organisation like Mencap Liverpool we would have really struggled.”

Sarah Jones, Chief Executive of Mencap Liverpool, said:

“The atmosphere this evening has been amazing. We are very grateful for Brown Turner Ross’s support and are looking forward to developing this partnership further.  The money raised tonight will help us support local people really in need. Most of the people we work with don’t receive any paid support, many live in poverty and few are lucky to have the support of family or friends.  The support from Brown Turner Ross will help to fund our befriending project, workshops, and social activities, giving people the skills, confidence and support network everyone needs.”

The evening was hailed as a success with £1500 raised for Mencap Liverpool. The Brown Turner Ross team will be further fundraising for the charity with a sponsored Christmas Jumper Day on Monday 12 December.
