Blankstone Opticians has revealed it has just launched a brand new, highly advanced screening process which uses a painless light beam to enable early diagnosis of potential underlying sight problems.
Managing director Mark Blankstone explained more about the innovation that will enable his team to see below the surface of the back of patient’s eyes.
“It’s an incredible piece of kit,” enthused Mark, “and one of the most important investments we’ve made in our 27-year history.”
“The technology is called O.C.T. which stands for Ocular Coherence Tomography and is on another level of screening with huge benefits for patients, enabling us to look under the surface of the back of the eye and create a 3D model on a computer screen. This in turn, can help us diagnose potential problems like Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, Diabetes, Macular Holes and Vitreous Detachments at a very early stage.
