Family-run burger business That Burger Place will open its first pop-up burger restaurant in Walkden Town Centre this week (Tuesday 23rd July).

Brothers Ryan and Scott McDermott, first opened That Burger Place in Swinton in July 2017 and have already built a successful business which regularly sells-out of their freshly-made American inspired burgers and fries. They now hope that the four-week pop-up in Walkden will lead to opening their second restaurant in the town centre.

Based in the former Pizza Hut unit which fronts onto the High Street, That Burger Place doesn’t operate standard opening hours, instead opening at 12noon from Tuesday to Sunday and closing as soon as they’ve sold out of their fresh burger patties.

Ryan McDermott from That Burger Place said: “That Burger Place was borne out of our love for American food, but we wanted to put our own spin on it by focusing on using fresh British produce.   We don’t freeze our burger patties so once we sell out we close and that has helped to create a real buzz around us.  We really hope that our two most popular dishes, the California Dreaming burger and Kevin Bacon fries, are as much of a hit here as in our home town of Swinton.

“We chose Walkden for the pop-up because there’s a lot going on in the town and there’s a great energy to it. We’re excited to share our passion and product with the people of Walkden and hope that with the town’s support we can stay here full time.”

Julian Dow, Walkden Town Centre Manager said: “Ryan and his team have a great product and they’re full of energy and determination. We’re delighted we could help them with their pop-up and feel sure they’ll be met with a very, very warm reception here in Walkden.”

That Burger Place will run a series of special offers and promotions throughout the four-weeks including ‘241 Tuesdays’, ‘Wild Wednesdays’ and a five-pound lunch menu that runs from 12pm to 3pm every weekday.

Walkden Town Centre is owned by The Derwent Group which ispart of the Albert Gubay Charitable Foundation and operates across the retail, leisure, industrial and commercial sectors with a commercial property portfolio in excess of 2.8million sq ft.   Through The Albert Gubay Charitable Foundation, The Derwent Group generates grants to charitable causes in excess of £10 million per annum.
