Speke-based company appointed as M&E specialists for £35m hotel project

"It is an honour to have been appointed to such an iconic development with so many incredible organisations involved and the whole team are looking forward to getting started."
Steven Hunt, managing director

Liverpool engineering consultants, Steven Hunt & Associates, have been appointed as the mechanical and electrical engineering specialists for the new hotel development in Liverpool’s upcoming Knowledge Quarter - topping off its most successful year to date for the firm.

Liverpool City Council have announced that AccorHotels have been selected to open the £35m, 18-storey development that will include a 160-bedroom Novotel and a 60-bedroom upscale aparthotel within the council’s £1b Paddington Village scheme. Steven Hunt & Associates will now join the project to help design all of the mechanical and electrical services for the development.

The company’s designs will include providing air conditioning to all bedrooms utilising heat from the site wide energy centre, full mechanical ventilation, and air conditioning to the multi-purpose conference and event facilities, on site bar, restaurant, fitness suite and meeting rooms.

Commenting on the news, Steven Hunt, managing director of Steven Hunt & Associates, said:

“It is an honour to have been appointed to such an iconic development with so many incredible organisations involved and the whole team are looking forward to getting started. It has been quite a year with new appointments and I believe this is testament to the team’s hard work. The development will have quite a presence in the city and we are excited to see the first guests check-in in 2021.”

The project will see Steven Hunt & Associates join forces with some of the industry’s most respected companies, including Morgan Sindall Group, Ryder Architecture and Curtins.

The construction of the development is set to begin in summer 2019 with a projected completion date of 2021. It has been estimated that 65% of the hotel’s projected £2.5m annual spend is set to be procured within the Liverpool city region, and the scheme could support up to 400 construction jobs.

The announcement of the new hotel follows a number of other major schemes already secured within the Knowledge Quarter area of Liverpool, including the new Rutherford medical Diagnostics Centre which Steven Hunt & Associates are also involved in.
