Domestic abuse charity is treated to a makeover

"I was bowled over by the work that the team at the charity do and I am delighted that we have been able to refurbish this much loved community facility."
Gill Kelly, Managing Director of MY

Centre 56, based in Kirkdale, Liverpool, provides a number of services for women and children, including an Ofsted registered nursery and after school club.

M&Y Maintenance and Construction, in partnership with Travis Perkins Managed Services and Martlew’s Property Maintenance, completed a wide range of works to help improve the facilities at the Centre and ensure that it can continue to provide its vital services to the local community.

Improvement and refurbishment works included replacing kitchen cupboard units, sinks and worktops, replacing broken window handles, patch repairs to ceilings and walls throughout property, installing new toilet seats in the children’s toilets, resealing wash hand basins, installing window roller blind in the school room and servicing all aluminium doors and windows.

Security for the centre was also improved with the installation of a new key coded door lock to the interior door and the installation of a spyhole to the external door.

Volunteers from the Regenda Group gave the Centre a lick of paint to compliment the work and make sure it looked as good as new for service users.

The total cost of project came to £3,200 including materials and labour and was covered by the Travis Perkins Managed Services CSR fund. Martlew’s Property Maintenance also donated new shelving units for the offices and completed other jobs around the building including gutter clearances.

Gill Kelly, Managing Director of M&Y Maintenance and Construction said: “Centre 56 is a fantastic charity that provides a hugely important service for families and children. I was bowled over by the work that the team at the charity do and I am delighted that we have been able to refurbish this much loved community facility. M&Y is an organisation with social value at its core and being able to support charities such as Centre 56 is something that I am very proud of."

Maggie Devine, Social Value Manager at Travis Perkins Managed Services, said: "Travis Perkins Managed Services makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK. We are committed to playing a key part in the community and we are delighted to be supporting M&Y and Centre 56. We hope the donation makes a real difference to local woman and children."

Diane Hill, Business Support Manager at Centre 56, said: “We are absolutely delighted with refurbishment and would like to thank everyone who has been kind enough to upgrade the building, making it a much nicer place for our children to enjoy.”
