~~Macclesfield based cloud computing firm Axon has raised £875.07 for Macclesfield Neonatal Unit after nominating the hospital department as its charity of the year for 2014, via East Cheshire NHS Trust’s ECHO Charity.
Employees from Axon took part in a range of events throughout the year, including a sponsored 30 foot wall climb, charity Christmas jumper day and the infamous Macclesfield pancake race in which the company stormed the competition to be crowned champions. Axon’s technical director Graham Fern also entered an Ironman competition which saw him complete a 3.8km sea swim, followed by a 180km cycle and a full marathon.
Lynn McGill, Chairman of East Cheshire NHS Trust said, "We have been honoured to have the incredible support of Axon, who named us their charity of the year 2014. The team's enthusiasm for ECHO has seen them raise an incredible total which will go towards a high flow oxygen unit on the neo-natal ward at Macclesfield District General Hospital. This equipment will provide more effective and comfortable breathing support for babies who need it. Thank you Axon - it has been a pleasure to work with you. We wish you great success with your future fundraising."

Axon has chosen The Neuromuscular Centre based in Winsford as its charity of the year for 2015.

In 2014 Axon received Business of the Year: Turnover £1 - £5Million at the North East Cheshire Business Awards which followed Best Use of Technology in Business at the Cheshire Silk 106.9 awards in 2012.
