When people think of wedding music, they are normally imagining a harpist plucking away as the couple tie the knot, a live band for the evening dance, or a disco. No-one is thinking of getting music written especially for them, and this niche market is under-developed and full of potential.
At www.everyheartisasong.com we have a team of composers, musicians and engineers who are capable of writing a song or piece of music, making the creation personal, bespoke and unique. The way we do this is to listen to the couple tell us of their lives, how they met, what attracted them to each other, and why they fell in love. We learn of their aspirations and hopes and wed craft a song to reflect all these emotions and sentiments. We can do this on the telephone, via skype, or even meet them in person. Now we write the song/music in a fitting style, a process which typically takes two days, and then enter the studios.
Depending on the complexity of the music, the recording could take an afternoon or several days to complete. The couple may just want a simple song with a piano accompaniment, or they may seek a full band with backing singers, strings and brass. Technology allows us to work both locally and remotely. It is possible to sit in a studio with a violinist or drummer by our side, but it is just as easy to send the musician the written music and have him send his recording back to us, in digital format. He could be anywhere, Liverpool or Lisbon – it matters not. If you go to the website and click on ‘listen’ the male singer you hear worked exactly like this. He lives in Bournemouth and all the discussions and recordings were sent in emails between us.
The next phase called MIXING and MASTERING is one of the most challenging, especially in complicated arrangements. Should the bass player be louder or quieter? Should we hear him stage left or right in our ears? How much echo should there be? Were the musicians ‘tight’, that is – did they play together? If not, we may have to digitally shift a person a millisecond forward. Perhaps there is one note that a singer sang slightly out of tune? We can tune it. The sounds are honed, polished and put in digital format and the couple receive a personalised CD or vinyl, an mp3, and a framed score containing the first page of the music.
