New Specialist Jobs Site Gives Work Boost to Manchester Primary Schools Staff

Recruitment Experts Guardian Education Reveal 'Joined-Up Thinking' Behind Local Supply Staff Placements

New Specialist Jobs Site Gives Work Boost to Manchester Primary Schools Staff

SOUTH Manchester’s primary school staff have a new route into work after the launch of a website that compiles the area’s latest teaching, teaching assistant and support work vacancies.

The easy-to-use website, which went live last week, provides qualified but out-of-work personnel with access to job opportunities as they become available in up to 40 of the region’s primary schools.

Early Years Foundation, KS1 and KS2 teachers, teaching assistants and support staff can use the site to browse and apply for a wide range of day-to-day and long-term positions in five educational boroughs of south Manchester.

Launched by schools recruitment specialists, Guardian Education, the jobs site is part of a process to bring the region’s primary schools and supply staff together in a more “joined-up way” that focuses  on placing local candidates in their local schools.

The company, run by Stockport-born Andrew Williams and Rick Holland, enjoys close working relationships with primary schools in Stockport, Tameside, Cheshire, Trafford and Manchester education boroughs. And in two years since its conception it has become the invaluable, go-to agency for the region’s best supply staff and primary schools.

Guardian Education’s Managing Director Andrew Williams explained: “We try to place local staff in local schools as a matter of course as we feel that’s of great benefit to the region’s youngest pupils. It’s part of a more joined-up way of bringing together the best suited candidates and schools.

"The new website will help out-of-work primary school supply staff stay up-to-date with the latest work vacancies in their local area."

Due to its local approach, Guardian Education works with a much smaller pool of supply staff than other recruitment agencies and concentrates its attentions on providing a more bespoke and personal service to its schools and candidates.

Elizabeth Irwin, headmistress of St. Mary’s C of E Primary School in Reddish, said: “Guardian Education is my go to agency and often provides our school with high quality professionals at short notice and also long term staff placements.

“They value long term relationships and are therefore able to provide a bespoke service for primary schools in the borough. I don’t doubt Guardian Education’s jobs site is going to enhance that particular quality of the business even more.”

The vibrant website www.guardianedu.co.uk, designed by the Stockport branch of Ezee Web Design, is already advertising long-term schools staff placements for the coming academic year, beginning in September.

It also offers insight into the vision of Guardian Education’s directors – both of whom have children in the local education system. The pair want more cohesive affiliations between local supply staff and schools – placing candidates according to location, background, repeat placement and skills before additional attributes are considered.

The site’s blog will go live next month and aims to provide local primary school staff with first-rate resources and guidance for career and classroom success. It will also offer Guardian Education’s opinion on the latest regional and national education news, trends and policy.
