Bellway provides bricklaying taster for schoolchildren

"It was a pleasure to welcome Springwell Park Primary School to St Elizabeths. With the school being only a short walk away, its likely that some of our new residents will become pupils there."
Sales director Jenny Bell

The informative visit was undertaken by a mixed group of 16 pupils plus two teachers and comprised a health and safety-focussed introduction to the different elements of a busy building site and the opportunity to try their hands at the art of bricklaying.

Site manager Andrew Sharpe provided an overview of the development taking place, introducing the different job roles and pieces of machinery and concluding with the importance of health and safety, explaining the many potential dangers and hazards that children could face if they strayed onto a construction site.

The group was given an interactive bricklaying lesson, with each child enjoying the opportunity to spread mortar on one side of a brick and then placing another brick on top, assisted by Andrew.

To conclude, the children were treated to demonstrations from a fork lift truck and 360 excavator in a fenced off area and a tour of a finished and fully built property to see the end result of the construction process.

Headteacher at Springwell Park Primary School, Tracy Webley, commented: “The visit to St Elizabeth’s was a great experience for the children as they were able to see a number of careers in action on a building site and gain an appreciation for the build process.  They particularly enjoyed the bricklaying session and I am sure this is something they will talk about in school for many months to come.”

Sales director at Bellway Homes, Jenny Bell adds: “It was a pleasure to welcome Springwell Park Primary School to St Elizabeth’s.  With the school being only a short walk away, it’s likely that some of our new residents at St Elizabeth’s will become pupils at the school so it was the perfect opportunity to host the visit and introduce the development to them.”

Offering a delightful selection of two, three and four bedroom homes, St Elizabeth’s Place is located just four and half miles from Liverpool and is well placed for the great shopping and good local amenities in Bootle but within easy reach of the city centre for commuters and those looking to enjoy the world class leisure attractions that Liverpool has to offer.
