Rural Churches Receive Modern Facelift With New Website

The United Benefice of Dolphinholme, Quernmore and Over Wyresdale launched their new website this week, designed and developed by WestCoastCo.

Rural Churches Receive Modern Facelift With New Website

"Younger generations live online nowadays, and we cant expect to engage young people if were not there with them!"
Jackie Hough, Vision Champion

Local marketing company WestCoastCo. have been working with Rev. Cindy Rigney, vicar of three rural churches, to bring the churches together on this new, modern platform. After several months of content writing, photography and development, they are launching the website this week.

“It’s important for us to be able to reach out to the wider community. For families and individuals who are isolated in this rural setting to see that our churches aren’t traditional; we’re inclusive, we’re community focused and we’re here for them”, explains Cindy.

This new website will allow the benefice to post their events to a responsive calendar, allowing visitors to export the details to their own iCal or Google Calendar. Individuals in the benefice have also been trained by WestCoastCo. on how to blog, enabling their youth groups to have a voice and share what they’re up to.

Vision Champion Jackie Hough says, “we need to be more up-to-date, and this is the first step in getting us there. Younger generations live online nowadays, and we can’t expect to engage young people if we’re not there with them!”

WestCoastCo. focus on injecting the personality of their clients into their websites, but it was clear from day one that this would be a very different project for them.

“We were dealing with three separate rural communities, all with their own voices and personalities, and trying to keep the design cohesive between them”, explains Arran, MD and lead designer/developer at WestCoastCo.

“These communities all have something in common: the blue sky and rolling hills surrounding them. Once we chose to focus on that, everything came together! I’m particularly happy with the new hand-drawn logo. It fits this theme, but there’s something very cheeky about it that shows how unique these churches are.”

All three churches are very excited to engage the wider community with their new website, and to get stuck in to writing blogs and sharing events. Visit dqowbenefice.co.uk to see these rural churches in action.
