Windermere’s Cedar Manor has been chosen as the first European hotel to join the list of a prestigious American-based register.
Select Registry is a collection of independent, boutique lodging properties which has recommended hotels and inns to travellers across the USA for 45 years.
The Cedar Manor announcement was made at the Independent Hotel Show in London, marking the start of Select Registry's expansion into the UK and Ireland. It will be led by one of the USA’s top hospitality inspectors, Stephen Tallon, of InnConsultancy Ltd.
Select Registry is a portfolio of more than 325 quality-assured premier bed and breakfasts, inns, and hotels throughout North America. Each member bed and breakfast, inn, and hotel has passed an unannounced, rigorous, quality assurance inspection to earn and maintain its Select Registry
Chief Executive Officer Mark Jaronski said: “For 45 years, travellers have counted on Select Registry to help them identify hospitality experiences that deliver a level of personalised service unheard of at hotel chains and a quality experience only a select few independent properties can attain."
Mr Tallon said: “With the strong dollar luring American travellers to the United Kingdom, now is the perfect time for Select Registry to expand here. It will bring a new tradition of excellence to European hospitality properties. I am excited to support the expansion of one of the most respected property collections anywhere."
Built in 1854, the award-winning Cedar Manor Hotel and Restaurant is set in mature gardens, secluded and peaceful, yet within a short walking distance of the lakeshore and Windermere town centre. The hotel has 10 luxury rooms and suites, all individually designed by an award-winning Windermere interior designer, Alison Tordoff. Its restaurant serves locally sourced, seasonal food prepared by skilled chefs.

Select Registry's North American properties stretch from Nova Scotia in Canada to Napa Valley, California; the Pacific Northwest of the United States to Key West. The properties range from classic B&Bs and full-service inns to stately mansions and manors, rustic lodges and ranches, boutique hotels, historic castles and luxury cabins. All of them must pass rigorous quality inspections to gain and maintain use of the Select Registry name.
