Legal firm, DPP Law, raises £1,650 for testicular cancer charity

"Its a pretty unique charity as it was set up by a survivor who saw there was no support for young men with cancer. We don't get much funding so its great DPP Law did this event."

Twenty members of staff volunteered for the Challenge the Wild project, which took place back in June.

This involved taking part in death-defying activities, which included rock scrambling, rock-climbing, abseiling 150ft, trekking 15k, waterfall jumping, ghyll scrambling, zip-lining and cave exploration.

The funds raised off the back of the event exceeded DPP Law’s target by 165 per cent - with dozens of well-wishers donating money to the cause. The Just Giving page is still open for donations.

Stuart Nolan, Managing Director of DPP Law Ltd, spoke after the challenge: “Doing the event really showed each of us what we’re capable of when we conquered the wild as a team!”

The adventure day came about after a member of the DPP Law team underwent treatment for testicular cancer, which prompted the legal firm to raise money for CheckEmLads. The charity is run by testicular cancer survivors who help to raise awareness of testicular cancer and its symptoms in schools, workplaces and British Army bases. They also offer online support, friendship and advice to men and their families going through this illness.

Phil Morris the founder of CheckEmLads said: “CheckEmLads has been spreading awareness of testicular cancer and supporting men across the UK through cancer since 2003.

“It’s a pretty unique charity as it was set up by a survivor who saw there was no
support for young men with cancer. We don’t get much funding so it’s great
Dpp Law did this event and raised a massive £1600 for us.”

“Not only did we help to raise a lot of money”, said Nolan, “but it was an incredible day to experience as a team. We learnt a lot about each other, and will take all these positives back home with us.”

Nolan spoke after the event: “I can’t thank all the team at Challenge the Wild enough. Everyone had a great time. The whole setup was well run and the instructors and staff were particularly good.

We took a party of twenty people, which we aim to expand next year with what we hope to become an annual event.

“As some of our colleagues said, "Best day at work ever".
