Transformation of historical court house shortlisted for award

The renovation of the Old Court House in Wallasey has been shortlisted at the Northern Housing Awards 2018.

Transformation of historical court house shortlisted for award

"We believe that it is important old buildings are repurposed to provide affordable homes within our communities, and the Old Court House demonstrates how it can be done successfully."
Gill Kelly, Managing Director at MY

Delivered by M&Y Maintenance and Construction, on behalf of social landlord, Regenda Homes, the £2.1m conversion project transformed the building into 21 apartments for social rent.

The renovation of this historical building, which still had part of its old court rooms and cells, required M&Y Maintenance and Construction to carefully repair, restore and retain the imposing brick work which made the building such an important piece of local heritage.

Delivered in partnership with Wirral Council, the project created much needed social housing in the area.

Gill Kelly, Managing Director at M&Y Maintenance and Construction, said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for this award.

“This was a very complex project and we worked hard to respect its historical importance to the local community.”

“We believe that it is important old buildings are repurposed to provide affordable homes within our communities, and the Old Court House demonstrates how it can be done successfully.”

“Everyone at M&Y is excited for the awards ceremony in May.”
