Lord Mayor of Manchester declares a Coin Amnesty

""

Throughout February, the We Love MCR Charity is launching its annual ‘Show your love for MCR’ campaign and asking people to show their love for the City, by donating their loose change, in We Love MCR’s Coin Amnesty.

This year, We Love MCR has partnered with the Manchester Arena, one of Manchester’s most iconic entertainment venues, to help raise money for Manchester residents and its communities. Volunteers from the charity will be present at a number of performances held at the Arena including Drake, Jack Whitehall and The Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour, and encouraging people drop their spare pennies (or pounds) in the charity’s cash collectors.

In addition, We Love MCR will have cash collectors in a number of Manchester City Council buildings including all national, regional and community leisure facilities, community libraries, the Town Hall and park cafes, as well as central Starbucks cafes.

Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Carl Austin-Behan, said: “It may only be your small change but you can make a big difference by donating your loose coins to We Love MCR’s Coin Amnesty . Every penny raised goes towards supporting a wide range of Manchester based projects and initiatives and provides welcome funding and support to local community groups and individuals.”

The initiative’s aim is to raise money that will help to support people in Manchester, from young to old, to reach their full potential.

Donations can also be made online via the website www.welovemcrcharity.org or texting MANC17 £1 to 70070 (or any amount of your choice).
